I’ve been to some strange locations the past few days. Places I usually won’t go to. Perhaps not a surprise to you when I tell you one can meet some out-of-the-ordinary-people down there? One of them I met, and we started to talk about all kinds of things. Till the subject came to fashion. After I told I had a small business and hooked on handbags, she told me a very fascinating but unknown story to me. It happens she knew people who work for DoyBags, that’s using recycled juice packaging that otherwise would be littering our streets and waterways. This Philippine cooperation consisting mostly out of women being the main breadwinner of their families succeeds where the government fails too many times to deal with wastes. What they produce is a very vibrant, strong quality line of bags that, to me, can compete with many overvalued foreign brands. You might not believe this, but I’ll show you as soon as possible! Isn’t it marvellous? Recycling waste into a fashionable item, that should make us, Philippinas proud, and run to DoyBags to get one! Wouldn’t that be an awesome sight and a big statement on the streets? Oh, I wish all of you a ‘colourful’ and ‘marvellous’ 2009!
