The first day of May is well known as Labour Day, but that’s not a very interesting item to post about. Luckely it’s also the day that Walpurgis Night is celebrated. Mostly in Central and Northern Europe. From pagan times bonfires are ignited to keep away the dead and chaotic spirits followed by celebrations of May Day: to welcome the returned light and sun. What makes my throat feel sandpapered is the fact that Hitler committed suicide on Walpurgis Night in 1945, Bram Stoker’s short story ‘Dracula’s Guest’ takes place on Walpurgis Night and Harry Potter’s ‘Death Eaters’ were known as the Knights of Walpurgis. Aren’t those facts more fascinating than that of, let’s say, Marx’s political ideas? And aren’t we all hooked (a bit) on ghost stories? As long there’s a hand to cling to and popcorn to comfort? I had to fight hard, but decided not to treat you some bloody picture (though some are awesome) but this blond boy, scared/thrilled? by some actor, will do the trick as well!
