Clamour And Glamour

What better name to drop on the stage than Shakespeare, with this World Theatre Day having opened its curtains today? Because this man is Theatre. During his life, and five centuries after, his writing is still subject of the tongue and pen, sweet or sour, not to mention lethal. Till this very day, new characters come to the scene with new interpretations of his work, or about his person. They doubt, deny or defend him. There are hints of madness and conspiracy. Jealousy and jest. Clamour and glamour. And it all still makes us amused, horrified and intrigued. Isn’t that theatre at its best?
